From time to time during the year, our Member Museums hold very special events and activities. Check back periodically for an updated list. Details can often be found on the museums' websites or Facebook pages.
Latimer Quilt and Textile Center: Exhibit: "Fabric Through Time," January 2 - March 2, 2019 at the Quilt Center at 2105 Wilson River Road Loop, Tillamook. Open House and Reception: January 6, 2019, from noon to 4 PM. Free admission for the Open House. Light Refreshments will be served. 503.842.8622.
Tillamook County Historical Society: Annual Meeting and Dinner, January 27, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Bay City Arts Center, 5th Street in Bay City. $10 per person charge for dinner. TCHS encourages people to also renew their membership that day for $10 per year.
Nehalem Valley Historical Society: Second Saturdays "Telling It Like it Was." 3:00 PM at the Pine Grove Community Center, 225 Laneda Avenue, Manzanita. All the Second Saturday programs are free and open to the public.
Feb 9: "Black in Oregon 1840-1870" presented by Layne Sawyer, Reference Manager for the Oregon State Archives.
Mar 9: "Surveying Neahkahnie's Treasure" presented by Phil Costanaggini, Vice President of the Sir Francis Drake association of Oregon and California.
April 13: "Early Twentieth Century Timber Workers - Songs and Stories" presented by James Cook, Oregon Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Labor History Association.
May 11: "A.E. Doyle's and Ellis Lawrence's Beach Architecture" presented by Phil Niles, historian and author of The Beauty of the City: A.E. Doyle, Portland's Architect.
Tillamook County Pioneer Museum: Great Speaker Series Presents Oregon Humanities Conversation Project with Adam Davis, "The Middle Class Redux." February 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Museum. Join Adam as we continue the discussion from last January about where the Middle Class is going in today's times. Free.
Nehalem Valley Historical Society: "Local History Series" with Mark Beach, Six classes at the Pine Grove Community Center, Manzanita; February 25 and 28, March 4, 7, 11, and 14, 2019. Cost is $50 for the series (which includes membership to the NVHS as well as a local history DVD and map) or $10 per class. To pre-register, send a check payable to NVHS, PO Box 704, Manzanita, OR 97130. If you are registering on the first day of class, please arrive at 3:45 or earlier to complete the process.
